Supporting My Claim

The Belmont Club, in my blogroll, had this to say:

Timing is everything

"Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) are expected tomorrow to announce a new coordinated effort to force votes in July to end the Iraq war, according to Democratic insiders," says the Politico. Glenn Reynolds thinks that after having "suckered" President Bush into destroying his coalition they sense the time to strike.

Pelosi and Reid in making the conventional political calculation and headcounts, may be ignoring the underlying reason for the immigration bill's defeat: a concern that the President was not doing enough to ensure national and border security. By making attempting to force a withdrawal from Iraq now, the Democrats seem determined to show that not only are they deaf to that message but don't mind opening themselves to the accusation that having failed to undermine national security one way, they will now proceed to try another. There may be good reasons for supporting a withdrawal from Iraq and as there were good reasons for supporting the defunct immigration bill, but Pelosi and Reid's reported plans will convey none of them.

I noticed that as soon as G.W. came out in strong support of the amnesty plan that there was somethin behind it and that same day or early the next day the (D)s dropped their calls for an immediate withdrawl from Iraq.. Coincidence?? I dont fuggin thank so !! I've said that G.W. supported the amnesty plan cause that was how he was gonna get the (D)s to let him keep the Troops in Iraq.. A VERY Dirty Deal, if you will..

Now that the amnesty plan has met its doom the (D)s are gonna be back to pushin the withdrawl from Iraq and they are gonna push with a vengence now.. This only backs up my claim that there was a deal tween G.W. and the (D)s on amnesty..

But like Belmont Club says, the (D)s dont understand that the American people want SECURITY, and we want it NOW..

No Amnesty

The amnesty plan finally got its just reward today and I'm havin a celebration to honor its demise.. Wanna join me ??

I'm just glad this nasty thang is behind us now but I have a sneaky suspicion that the (D)s will turn their attention to the withdrawl from Iraq now.. Sounds like the squishy (R)s are gonna be joinin em too..

I dont know for sure but I thank that the amnesty was tied to the (D)s softenin on Iraq.. We will know soon enuff now that amnesty is no longer in the spotlight.. If the (D)s come back with a vigorous attack on Iraq now we will know for sure then..

I had the best supper last nite that I can remember in a long time.. I picked a sack of white beans out of the garden and cooked em with some smoked bacon and onion in em and made a skillet of cornbread and fried a skillet of taters with onion and peppers in em.. We made pigs of ourselves on it and I wadnt the only one that enjoyed the hell out of it..

We have been pickin a shit-load of tamaters too.. We got em everywhere in the house and I plan to make a huge pot of picante soon out of em with some of my garden onions in it and a friend traded me some jalepenos from here garden for some of my tamaters to go in it too..

Mt tamaters are gonna need some work on em real soon cause I have been givin em some fertilizer and we have been havin plenty of the rain that this whole part of the state has been havin that has produced some huge tamaters and the stakes and line I have tiein em up has started to break and fall.. I'm talkin bout tamaters as big as your hand too !! Some of em weigh a pound or more..

I've also been gettin plenty of snap pintos and some green beans too but these white beans just rocked my world they were so good.. I should also be gettin some peppers soon and the squash and okry is comin along good now.. The peppers have pods on em but no blooms yet on the squash or okry..

The rest of North Texas has been gettin some heavy rains to the point of bein bad floods but we have been gettin just glancin blows from it.. Still we have had rains that came up over the street curbs and covered the yard and flooded under the house, and we live in a high spot of town.. Usually when it starts to move anywhere it moves over us before it goes on away so we could still have some trouble out of it yet..

My neighbor behind me has his drainage route piled up with shit and it is makin the water from his yard pour over into mine and it runs a foot deep or more at times.. That aint gonna happen for long tho cause I'm gonna build a dam on the fence-row to block it from comin over into my yard and all his shit he has piled back there is gonna float away down the street on the other side or back up under his house..

But so far I have had to water the garden from the well a total of 3 times now and that was a coupla months ago.. I just need it to dry enuff to get about 2 more rows tilled so I can get started on my Fall garden.. I wanna put some onion seed out and some more greens.. I may still have time to get some cucumbers started before it gets too hot to do any good.. I dont care nothin bout em but the Mrs. wants some..

I got a call from the VA the other day and they said I wadnt allowed Dental so now I gotta find my letter that says I am and get it to somebody and get back on the list for a dentist visit.. I'm still waitin to see when I'm gonna be due for my sono on my gall bladder.. Come to thank of it I aint got my meds yet either and I usually would have had em by now.. I guess I need to check on em .. I can do that online tho and aint no biggy..

I thought I was gonna get to get ALL my property taxes paid today but when I got there and talked to em I still have another bit to pay next month.. That'll just give me somethin to celebrate then since I have the amnesty plan goin down in flames to party to today.. I caint have too much fun all at one time or I couldnt stand it..

I'm Ashamed Too

Steve, at THIS post, says that his Grandpas would be ashamed of our countrymen of today for their laziness.. I'm ashamed of their laziness too, and their cowardice and treason and UNpatriotic actions and underminin our President..

I'm not in any shape or position to do anythang about em and often feel HELPLESS about the situation.. I just go take care of my garden and try to get stuff in order so that when thangs go all-to-shit that I'll be somewhat prepared to deal with the situation and may be able to even help others..

I'm NOT helpless, I'm just not needed right now..

But Steve is right in his post.. Just where will we really fight Al Q at ??

A Date With Destiny

Well, I've got an appointment with the "pecker checker" tomoro and I'm startin to get the "dreads" over it.. Its gonna be a new one that I aint seen before so I know I'll have all the same ol bullshit to go thru.. Tests, and then the million questions and all the same ol "quit smokin", "watch your diet", "your blood pressure is high, you need meds for it", "how much do you drink", and all the other shit I aint even gonna speak of here..

They always wanna look at my stump and see what a fucked up job the "Butcher" did when he cut my leg off and ask another thousand questions about it.. In other words, they worry and question about everythang except what needs to have attention paid to it..

I'd feel better about it if I thought I was gonna get the ball rollin on some thangs I NEED done, but I dont have very high hopes of gettin the results I want.. I figger I'll just get my meds renewed and if I'm real lucky I'll get an appointment to take some more tests in Shreveport before long..

I guess I better go start to make my list of stuff I dont wanna forget when I get there.. I still aint sure what all I wanna bring uo to the Doc yet.. I guess it will depend on what my impression is on em first, then I'll see how far I want em to take it.. If its one of those spaced-out nuts I'll just let em let me die in peace and not let em drag my sufferin out for a long time while they use me for a fuggin guinea pig..

I'll try and get back here with an update tomoro evenin, if I'm able..

Mental Fatigue

Yeah, I know, I've been kinda scarce around here lately..

My mind is just so tired from seein all the faults and the wrong that is happenin and not bein able to do anythang about it..

Its so disgustin to see people that should know damn-well-better than do somethin the way they do yet fly headlong into it with abandon.. Its like society, as a whole, has Altzheimers !!

Even tho they have done somethin a dozen times the same way and every time it all turns to shit, they still do it the same way again and again..

Nobody seems to learn from mistakes anymore and nobody accepts advice from those that have done somethin before and nobody looks at history anymore and be-damned if there are instructions for somethin..

Did America not learn any lessons in Gulf War I ??

Did America not learn any lessons with the first Illegal Alien Amnesty ??

Did America not learn any lessons with the Iranian Hostage Crisis ??

Did America not learn any lessons from the Gas Crisis in the early '70's ??

Did Israel not learn any lessons when its enemies amassed on its borders ??

Did Russia not learn any lessons when it began The Cold War ??

Did the World not learn any lessons when the Mooselimbs began The Crusades ??

I guess I'm just stressin out on shit and maybe I need to just post some recipes for a while.. I know that I need it to stop rainin for a while so I can get to spend some time at the farm again.. But I aint gonna take any more of them hot-ass Hot Links out there with me anymore !!

The First Day Of A/C

Last week the Mrs. bought an A/C unit that is a little bigger than the one we had and I have spent the last coupla days puttin it in..

Yesterday I took out the old one and got the cage for the new one installed.. Today I got the new unit brought in and stuck in the cage and got the wirin replaced and connected..

I fired that mother up and the kid is in the other room lookin for a blanket now..

A buddy was supposed to come by and help me yesterday but he never showed, so I just did it myself.. I've got a few muscles that aint any better for the wear and tear but I'll live over it..

A nice little thunderstorm passed by real close while I was doin the major part of the hard labor and got it real nice and sticky for me and that left me kinda soggy when I went to hookin up the new wirin to the breaker box.. I dont guess I have to tell you that I was a little leary bout pokin my long sweaty fangers in there with all that voltage, but I got it did !!

I've had that damn A/C unit on my trailer since I went and got it last week and aint been able to haul my mower back to the farm so I could hook the tiller up to it and get a coupla rows ready to plant the squash and okra and pepper plants that the Mrs. picked up for me last week, so my plants have now started saggin and droopin and may not last till I can get em in the ground.. Not to mention that the damn grass is gettin so tall that it hits the front of the car drivin in..

Looks like that about the time it gets hot enuff to turn on the A/C that I'm gonna need to be spendin all my time out at the farm tryin to get it mowed and tilled and cleaned up.. But at least that will take my mind off the high-ass electricity bill, now that we got that big-ass A/C unit !!

Thank I'll just have a big frosty mug of coldbeer and a ceegar and a long soak in the tub.. Could be worse..

Have You Noticed It Too ??

I saw a headline today that said Truck Traffic was bein inspected for terrorism goin into New York City, and I have seen that there are several places in the South that are gonna be havin D.O.T. Truck Inspections, in several places around here too..

Kinda makes me wonder if I dont need to be doin some thangs that I've been puttin off till I got all my taxes paid !! I've got till 01 July to pay em before all that extra penalty and interest goes into effect, but I already have the money rat-holed but want to wait till after I have my "pecker-checker" appointment the 22nd of this month, just in case I have to go into the hospital and the Mrs. needs a motel room for a coupla days or gas money to drive back and forth..

There sure is a lot of shit that I need for my camp and it is worryin me.. I've GOTTA have 2 new batteries and I really need some bulk foodstuffs too, like oatmeal and rice and dried beans.. But that kinda stuff tends to get infested with bugs real easy and you caint store it for long periods of time without it gettin to the point that it just aint fit to eat.. Several of my emergency meds are goin out of date and need to be replaced too.. Those take longer to get too..

I need a new CB and my "kicker" box is broke, so I'm not gonna have my long range communications I thought I was.. My kicker box ran on 110 AC and if/when I get a new one it will be 12 volt this time.. But for that I'm gonna have to devise me a hand powered generator to keep the power output up to proper levels to be able to make long distance contact.. Runnin my 5000 watt Power Base generator a lot will eat up my gasoline supple real quick and never can tell what the gas supply will be like after a while.. I've got an old kids bicycle that I have rigged with an alternator off a car but I caint seem to get any output out of it.. What I need is an old timey car generator.. I used to have one but my Daddy gave it away to somebody.. He was always good at givin MY shit away !! I figgered I could put a kid on the bicycle and have em peddle and keep the batteries charged.. Might take a little bribin tho.. Maybe I can find somebody around here that knows what I'm doin wrong with the alternator and can set me straight on it..

But it definitely sounds like the threat of terrorism is on the increase and action is startin to be geared up to counter it.. I just wonder how long it will be before the official announcement is let and who is gonna make it.. I've got better thangs to worry bout right now tho and I'm just gonna go ahead and act like the announcement has already been made.. I've always thought that Threat Level was a bunch of shit.. They dont change it till AFTER somethin happens anyway..

Tomoro is probably gonna be a busy day for me so guess I better go get a little rest..

What A MESS !!

We loaded up and went to the farm and picked a few more tamaters just after noon today and when we got back we found the top 2/3rds(bout 40 feet) of our big peecan tree in the front yard had broke off and was all over the front yard.. It had tore down the phone lines and ripped the cable anchor out and ripped the wires out of the junction box too.. I had to get the ladder set up and get my tools and put up a new anchor and run the wire to the house and connect the wires back into the junction box..

I called the Fire Dept. and let em know that I was gonna be havin a fire in my front yard for a few days and plan to set it ablaze after the folks leave that work in the businesses close by.. No use in smokin them out..

It coulda been a lot worse like it was after the big ice storm we had in 2000 but its still bad enuff to cause me a lot of extra work that I dont need..

I had planned to go spend a coupla days at the farm and get a little more cleanin and piddlin done out there but it looks like the plan has been changed for me now..

Damn shame I dont have somethin to cook to put on that good ol peecan fire I'm gonna be havin !! I bet I have me a big ol pot or two of campfire coffee before I get thru with it.. I got me a whole box of my ceegars the other day at half price, plus 10 more free and I bet I have me a few of them suckers too !!

I started a SPECIAL batch of my homebrew yesterday too, but those details are gonna be for another post..

The Day Before The Day: June 4th

From HERE

For Israel, There Was No Peace Before The Land
By Charles Krauthammer

WASHINGTON -- There has hardly been an Arab peace plan in the past 40 years -- including the current Saudi version -- that does not demand a return to the status quo of June 4, 1967. Why is that date so sacred? Because it was the day before the outbreak of the Six Day War in which Israel scored one of the most stunning victories of the 20th century. The Arabs have spent four decades trying to undo its consequences.

The real anniversary of the war should be now, three weeks earlier. On May 16, 1967, Egyptian President Gamal Nasser demanded the evacuation from the Sinai Peninsula of the U.N. buffer force that had kept Israel and Egypt at peace for 10 years. The U.N. complied, at which point Nasser imposed a naval blockade of Israel's only outlet to the south, the port of Eilat -- an open act of war.

How Egypt came to this reckless provocation is a complicated tale (chronicled in Michael Oren's magisterial history "Six Days of War'') of aggressive intent compounded with fateful disinformation. An urgent and false Soviet warning that Israel was preparing to attack Syria led to a cascade of intra-Arab maneuvers that in turn led Nasser, the champion of pan-Arabism, to mortally confront Israel with a remilitarized Sinai and a southern blockade.

Why is this still important? Because that three-week period between May 16 and June 5 helps explain Israel's 40-year reluctance to give up the fruits of the Six Day War -- the Sinai, the Golan Heights, the West Bank and Gaza -- in return for paper guarantees of peace. Israel had similar guarantees from the 1956 Suez War, after which it evacuated the Sinai in return for that U.N. buffer force and for assurances from the Western powers of free passage through the Straits of Tiran.

All this disappeared with a wave of Nasser's hand. During those three interminable weeks, President Lyndon Johnson tried to rustle up an armada of countries to run the blockade and open Israel's south. The effort failed dismally.

It is hard to exaggerate what it was like for Israel in those three weeks. Egypt, already in an alliance with Syria, formed an emergency military pact with Jordan. Iraq, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Tunisia, Libya and Morocco began sending forces to join the coming fight. With troops and armor massing on Israel's every frontier, jubilant broadcasts in every Arab capital hailed the imminent final war for the extermination of Israel. "We shall destroy Israel and its inhabitants,'' declared PLO head Ahmed Shuqayri, "and as for the survivors -- if there are any -- the boats are ready to deport them.''

For Israel, the waiting was excruciating and debilitating. Israel's citizen army had to be mobilized. As its soldiers waited on the various fronts for the world to rescue the nation from peril, Israeli society ground to a halt and its economy began bleeding to death. Army Chief of Staff Yitzhak Rabin, later to be hailed as a war hero and even later as a martyred man of peace, had a nervous breakdown. He was incapacitated to the point of incoherence by the unbearable tension of waiting with the life of his country in the balance.

We know the rest of the story. Rabin recovered in time to lead Israel to victory. But we forget how perilous was Israel's condition. The victory hinged on a successful attack on Egypt's air force on the morning of June 5. It was a gamble of astonishing proportions. Israel sent the bulk of its 200-plane air force on the mission, fully exposed to antiaircraft fire and missiles. Had they been detected and the force destroyed, the number of planes remaining behind to defend the Israeli homeland -- its cities and civilians -- from the Arab air forces' combined 900 planes was ... 12.

We also forget that Israel's occupation of the West Bank was entirely unsought. Israel begged Jordan's King Hussein to stay out of the conflict. Engaged in fierce combat with a numerically superior Egypt, Israel had no desire to open a new front just yards from Jewish Jerusalem and just miles from Tel Aviv. But Nasser personally told Hussein that Egypt had destroyed Israel's air force and airfields and that total victory was at hand. Hussein could not resist the temptation to join the fight. He joined. He lost.

The world will soon be awash with 40th anniversary retrospectives on the war -- and on the peace of the ages that awaits if Israel would only return to June 4, 1967. But Israelis are cautious. They remember the terror of that unbearable May when, with Israel possessing no occupied territories whatsoever, the entire Arab world was furiously preparing Israel's imminent extinction. And the world did nothing.

Whats On My Mind Today

Tired Of The Game

I'm not much of a Sports fan, but I get bits and pieces of sports info whether I want it not cause its everywhere.. If I change channels on the radio I am most likely to hear at least one sports channel before I get to the station I'm lookin for, and if I go to the store, when I go to the front door to go in, I pass the news stand and there will be a Front Page visible that will usually have sports content on it..

Even our local radio station has about 5 minutes of news and 10 minutes of sports in their hourly news roundup.. I guess that lets you know just how much excitement happens around here !!

But I thank it was in one of those brief encounters with a sports report that I had a little bit of info stick in my mind and I have been "chewin" on it for several days now..

It has to do with "The Big Texan", Roger Clemens (or is it Clements), who signed a new contract the other day, or week.. They were commentin about the multi-million dollar contract that he got and about how much he would make per-game.. They were speculatin about how many games and how many innings he would pitch to earn all that money.. In the coarse of his "thankin out loud" he mentioned that few, if any, pitchers pitch an intire game any more, specially the older ones like Clemens..

That last sentence is what got me thankin.. Considerin that my mind is usually occupied with politics and military matters, I got to wonderin if maybe this same situation didnt apply to today's politics..

I began to wonder just how many of our military Brass has remained in the same place and position for the last 6 years and how many of Congress has the same people in the same positions as 6 years ago..

G.W. has been pitchin a lot of games in the last 6 years and Cheney has only been called in for relief a few times and has been mostly on the sidelines givin chatter and support..

What I'm gettin at is, do you thank the President is gettin tired and needs a relief to come in and pitch a few innins ?? Of coarse that relief means Cheney, and do you thank he is up to it himself ??

The last 2 years of a presidency is usually when the next generation leader is supposed to be put up for inspection and "trial by fire" to the public, and that next generation traditionally is the VP.. Cheney aint gonna be it this time so why hadnt G.W. replaced Cheney with his choice to be the next generation leader to get em in the spotlight and out front for inspection by the masses ??

But takin a long hard look at the situation and events of today in America, is it really wise to have a sittin VP on the campaign trail ?? Should our relief pitcher be saddled with bein the Number Two and also tryin to get his eggs in one basket to be elected to the Number One position ?? Is it not in the Countries best interest for the next generation leader to be out there unrestrained and meetin the masses on the streets and at the rallies instead of behind Secret Service and in meetins of National Security and Military importance ??

But at the same time, would it not be a "feather in their hat" to be in a position where we could see em in action and takin responsibility and how they act under the stress and what their "official" position is AFTER they have the FULL BRIEFIN on what the situation stands at ?? It bein, that most of the candidates out there today are talkin out there asses and dont know SHIT FROM SHINOLA about what America faces and what choices we have to affect the situation..

Hell, the (D)s caint even get their shit straight on Health Care or Social Security with all the info they already have on it !! Most of that stuff is just "common knowledge and Public Record" and the best they can come up with for a solution for that is SOCIALISM, so how can they honestly have a solution to Terrorism or Immigration or National Security when they dont have all the info to make a "good judgement call" on any of those pressin matters ??

I'm just wonderin bout the "plus or minus" effect of havin Fred Thompson be called up for duty as VP now that he has given his intent to enter the race .. Could Fred handle the dual-task of VP and Candidate, and how would it affect his electability bein on the Bush Team ?? Talk about Trial By Fire !!

Or, is there somebody else out there that would be a better replacement for Cheney ?? Somebody that it would be an advantage to, to be able to be privy to the info that the VP is authorized for ?? Somebody that it would be an asset to know certain details when they join the Civilian Force after/if The Hildebeast wins in '08 ?? "Inside Info" for the RIGHT person could be a definite advantage for our Country in the comin Trials and Tribulations that will eventually be forced upon us.. That person could do some needed lobbyin and activism should the (D)s get in this countries Drivers Seat by some unforseen horror..

I just thought I'd thro this out there since I aint seen anybody else bring up this subject in a long time but I'm sure that it will be dug up some time soon..

Like Charlie Daniels says on his SoapBox, "What do you thank" ??

My Mouth Is Waterin

We went to the garden today and picked our first bunch of vineripe tamaters.. Gonna have a BLT here in a minute and can hardly wait.. Them thangs smell like REAL tamaters too !!

Pulled up about 7 gallons of onions too since they were bout to start rottin from all the rain we have had.. Also pulled 3 Wal-Mart sacks of turnips to fix the Mrs. some Mashed Turnips.. Thats like mashed taters but you use turnips.. Still have a helluva bunch of onions left to get out of the ground but I put them in tall rows just in case it did turn wet this spring.. They should be OK for a little longer if it dont just come a damn flood, but we are expectin a LOT more rain to come thru tonite..

The Mrs. got to do some mowin at the farm today and was happy as a lark, but her foot and ankle started hurtin and then she was ready to come home.. If her foot and ankle aint better by Monday I thank I'm gonna see if I can talk her into goin to the Doc with it.. Its been 10 days and it still has a lot of blue in it..

My belly is startin to growl so I better go fix that BLT before I pass out from weakness..
