My Mouth Is Waterin

We went to the garden today and picked our first bunch of vineripe tamaters.. Gonna have a BLT here in a minute and can hardly wait.. Them thangs smell like REAL tamaters too !!

Pulled up about 7 gallons of onions too since they were bout to start rottin from all the rain we have had.. Also pulled 3 Wal-Mart sacks of turnips to fix the Mrs. some Mashed Turnips.. Thats like mashed taters but you use turnips.. Still have a helluva bunch of onions left to get out of the ground but I put them in tall rows just in case it did turn wet this spring.. They should be OK for a little longer if it dont just come a damn flood, but we are expectin a LOT more rain to come thru tonite..

The Mrs. got to do some mowin at the farm today and was happy as a lark, but her foot and ankle started hurtin and then she was ready to come home.. If her foot and ankle aint better by Monday I thank I'm gonna see if I can talk her into goin to the Doc with it.. Its been 10 days and it still has a lot of blue in it..

My belly is startin to growl so I better go fix that BLT before I pass out from weakness..

Lord, you're starving me to death with the BLT's. lol. Be sure to save us some. We're gonna try to get your way Thursday or Friday. Got some cat food for the "barn cats" that you don't like. rofl. And I don't remember what the Missus did to her ankle. But if it's been discolored this long, I'd say it definitely needs to be looked at and hope the damage isn't already done. kisses and hugs, Sherry

Morning WB. Yep agree with Sherry, you need to be careful with those kinds of injuries, they can turn bad. Keep it elevated, fix her a bucket wit ice and water to soak it once in a while, but keeping it up will help even more. Taking a few aspirin for the pain but also to keep the blood thinner so as to circulate better and discourage any blood clots.

My onions are not really ready yet, but I did pick a few yesterday to cut up in a salad. Sarah says she "don't like onions" but she said she liked them in the salad. She is not a big salad fan, but if I put lots of ranch dressing on it, she will eat it.

In other news, had a new neighbor move a trailer in next door, (the previous people there, got arrested and their trailer claimed for back rent.

I went over to introduce myself being a good neighbor and all and found out that the only ones that spoke english were the three kids. I had them translate for me and didn't let on that I understood texmex.

The first thing I heard the dad say was " don't tell him anything, we don't want any problems or trouble." I let on later in the conversation that I knew that they were illegal but for them not to worry, as the law wouldn't bother them if they didn't commit any crimes. The oldest kid translated that as: "He said, if we are good, he won't turn us in".

I left it at that and told them that our dog didn't bite unless they came onto our property.

Take care and enjoy your blessings, I'm getting out of here more sooner than later. Sarah doesn't need this.

I need to find us a place about like yours, away from towns, but not so far as to make emergency services too far away, cause I aint' getting any younger and my health ain't that good.

Take care and take care of those you love.

Come on down, Papa Ray.. Its 4/10ths of a mile from the farm to the EMT office and 2 miles to the hospital.. You can getcha a trailer and put it out there and I hope it wont be that long till I get to move out there too.. We could carpool to the coffee shop and the VA together !! Its a long way to the VA tho.. Bout 130 miles..

Maybe we could talk Cheryl into gettin out of Kalifornia and joinin us and if I talked real sweet then maybe Sherry and her better half would come down too.. We could have our own little commune out there..

Only time I see my neighbors out there is when they come to feed their animals..

We used to have a house-full of Mescans that lived next door to us here in town.. It was a drop-off point for them comin fresh from the border.. I used to take pics and vids of em and I thank they got smart and moved somewhere else.. They are the ones that would go hit the Food Bank and then cook the stuff and go sell it at the factories..

I've tried to get the Mrs. to soak her foot in a bucket of cold water and stay off it but she dont listen to me very good..

I thank she got her feet tangled up in a bunch of her cats when she was goin out the back door and feel on the sidewalk.. Took the hide off her ankle and one knee and the ankle and foot turned blue and swelled up real bad.. Still a lot of blue on the side of her foot and the ankle is still a little swollen too.. But she wont stay off it or soak it or wont even keep it elevated when she is layin down readin or watchin movies.. She is a liberal tho and as you probably know, YOU JUST CAINT TALK SENSE TO EM !!

Sherry, I wish them was "barn" cats, but they have claimed the damn picnic table as their own now.. The Mrs. has a damn rug up there for em now so that they will have a comfy place to "roost" !!

The 4 little ones pluss the momma cat all have a batch of new ones now just big enuff to scamper around.. She better get her damn box ready to load the little sunzabitches up and go to Wally World and give em to somebody else.. I aint gonna stand for 30 gotdam cats runnin around here !!

WB - I love your idea!!! If it turns out we cannot keep my beloved state in the USofA but, rather, an adjunct of Mexico, look out cuz this crazy Californian is on her way to your digs!! Thinking of the dishes you would create for us is a strong siren song, I tell you!!!

Maybe Mama Bear will chime in on some advice for the Mrs. It is a little concerning that she's still blue this long - we care even if she is a liberal!!!!

Hey, the cats keep the rats and mice away! Works for me!

When I was atmy first permanent duty station (Abilene Tx)after goin in the Air Force, I lived in a trailer park that had mostly new military there.. It was like an extended family community.. We all visited each other regular and took care of each others family when somebody got deployed..

Later I moved on into town to a real house and neighborhood and had the same family type folks, but not many other military.. They still watched over my house and took care of the yard while I was gone for long periods..

I was the tutor for a coupla Mescan kids across the street cause their folks must not have been too good at American Math and Spellin, in-turn I got some damn good Mescan cookin !!

Then I got married again and moved out to the country and had a large family there and a close-knit bunch of neighbors..

After I got out and moved back to East Texas I aint had a large family or any neighbors that are really worth gettin close to.. And I kinda miss it.. I thank it would be real nice to have folks that I like and want to be around and have fun with..

I'd like to be around folks and play cards and dominoes and board games again and share wonderful food and stories..

I like doin jig-saw puzzles but it just aint any fun doin em by myself and the Mrs. cheats at Backgammon and wins all the time..

And there aint nothin like havin a big table full of folks to sit down and share a good country dinner with and sittin in the rockin chairs on the veranda afterwards havin a good discussion..

Mostly tho, I've found that when you have a larger group get together that there is always more laughter !! Thats just somethin I aint had a lot of in a while and I really miss that.. Like havin an old time "crank" type homemade ice cream freezer and havin somebody sit on it and seein how long it takes for their butt to go numb !!

Or watchin the kids and the dogs wrestle in the fresh cut grass and hearin all the little-girl squeels..

I guess the intensity of Today's World is puttin a need in me to draw close to somebody and I caint thank of a better group of folks that I'd rather do that with than ya'll.. We are all just different enuff to make for interestin conversation, yet alike enuff to not have the conflict..

Besides, I bet we could put us together some bbq's that would make the Governor jealous !! Maybe we could talk Kim du Toit into comin down sometime and brangin his Nation of Riflemen with him..

But who in the group has the musical talent ?? Surely we aint gonna have to recruit us a geetar player for the campfires, are we ??

WB, you sure do make me yearn for the life you envision. I enjoyed this lifestyle as a kid visiting my grannie in the summer. I miss all that, as well. I don't even cheat at Backgammon!!!

Don't count on me for musical entertainment! I'm a good dancer, though!!!

Oh, the food! Just for this alone, I'd join you! I grow weary of dieting!

If you ever get serious about this, I just may come and pay a visit!!

Hi ho hi ho it is off to work I go.

Don't have time to chat. But, google a search on any medical site. She may very well have a ligamental sprain, those take forever to heal as they have no blood supply to speak of (it is gristle--like on a chicken bone).

Plus, there are sooooo many places to injure in the foot or ankle. I suggest an x-ray and a Dr. visit so as not to do permenant injury. We do not heal as well in age as when young, and the pain could be permannent if not assessed and treated.

Forget what site I visited lately but some poor army woman was running marathons on a broken foot, you can keep going----but....it hurts like a you know what.

Drag her in WB. She needs to be seen.

WB, sounds like you know what you want. I have a good idea of about the same things as you do.

But life gets in the way.

Without going into the whole sorry story, my daughter is with child again and of course with no idea who the daddy is.

She has promised (for the millionth time) that she is finished with acting like a twenty year old drug addict and drunk.

Between, my existing bills and the ones upcoming in raising a new granddaughter, (we are going to name her Hannah May, after my Mama) and the fact that I am going to have to replace my ol 97 nissan with something before if falls apart...well, my timetable and plans are just going to have to wait.

Plus if my dear daughter does plan on coming with us (which is doubtful) she said she won't live in no damn trailer. I have told her that it's better than living in a motel (which she has had a lot of expericence with) or on the street like she has on and off for years.

Anyway, yea...We would be on our way next week, if I had any way to do it.

Yea. you better make your ol' lady listen to you and get her in for a check up and such before that "minor" injury turns into something bad.

Blood clots and other things that could happen are very dangerous, even deadly.

Jeez, we are going to name her Hanna Mae.

I wonder sometimes if it is my lack of education or ol' age or just being plain stupid that makes my brain disconnected most of the time.

Maybe it's just that I'm tired. But, I can't be tired, or nothing bad, cause I got two girls (well, three if you count my 40 y/o daughter) and three boys that still need a Papa.

My oldest Grandson goes to Navy basic in about ten days. So he will have others helping me watch out for him now.

I had a little talk with the Mrs. and she called the doc and she is back from vacation now and the Mrs. got an appointment and just left to go get that foot and ankle checked out.. Said she is gonna have a talk with the doc about losin some of the extra weight she has too.. She is bout 30 pounds heavy and it is really hurtin her now since she has the bad knee from Miss Minnie Pearl takin her down and now the bad foot and ankle to go with it..

She was a size 4(or smaller) when she first came down here and tasted my cookin and now has enjoyed it a little more than she should have.. It aint so much the food and eatin but that she just dont get the exercise she should..

The Dollar Store is 2 blocks from us and she drives to it.. The grocery store is 2 blocks from us and she drives to it.. Its just 6 blocks to the library or the movie shop and she drives to em.. Its one block to the Parts House and she raises hell when I try to walk to it !! I guess she just has a thang about somebody gettin exercise.. She is payin for it now tho..

Its hard to cook real healthy tho in this house.. The Kid is really skinny and I try to cook stuff that she will like and eat without a big hassle so that she will "fill out" some, but that same food sticks right to mine and the Mrs.' ass and belly.. But the Kid will eat good food if we put plenty of cheese or Ranch Dressin on it.. We compensate by cuttin WAY BACK on the sweets and candy and add popcorn and crackers.. Soda aint a big item in this house either, but Kool-Aid, lommonade and tea are our main drink..

I have limited my eattin to where I have dropped down from a high of 200 pounds to 180 now.. That aint bad for somebody that is 6 foot 1 tho even if I am missin that other leg.. Whenever they first came out with the height-to-weight ratio thang, or at least when I first heard of it, 191 ponds was my ideal weight.. I figger losin that leg cost me about 20 pounds, so that would put my target weight at about 171, and now that means I'm about 9 pounds over.. I can live with that as long as I can eat my food that I like..

But its comin on summertime now and I always lose some weight then cause I graze on fruits and veggies and do more grillin and less fryin durin the summer.. Plus I get more exercise durin the summer too..

I just hope the Mrs. dont go on some diet that she expects me to be on too.. Could get kinda "touchy" round here !!

Papa Ray, I am so sorry. Sounds to me like your 40-year old ought to just hush and listen to her dad. Good luck on your boy entering the Navy. God bless him and thank him for his service, please.

Good luck, WB, on the Mrs getting an answer as to what is wrong AND not putting you on a diet!! I'd tell her to grow the hell up and take responsibility for herself. I know she's a liberal; still, she had the good sense to marry you!!
