A Date With Destiny
Well, I've got an appointment with the "pecker checker" tomoro and I'm startin to get the "dreads" over it.. Its gonna be a new one that I aint seen before so I know I'll have all the same ol bullshit to go thru.. Tests, and then the million questions and all the same ol "quit smokin", "watch your diet", "your blood pressure is high, you need meds for it", "how much do you drink", and all the other shit I aint even gonna speak of here..
They always wanna look at my stump and see what a fucked up job the "Butcher" did when he cut my leg off and ask another thousand questions about it.. In other words, they worry and question about everythang except what needs to have attention paid to it..
I'd feel better about it if I thought I was gonna get the ball rollin on some thangs I NEED done, but I dont have very high hopes of gettin the results I want.. I figger I'll just get my meds renewed and if I'm real lucky I'll get an appointment to take some more tests in Shreveport before long..
I guess I better go start to make my list of stuff I dont wanna forget when I get there.. I still aint sure what all I wanna bring uo to the Doc yet.. I guess it will depend on what my impression is on em first, then I'll see how far I want em to take it.. If its one of those spaced-out nuts I'll just let em let me die in peace and not let em drag my sufferin out for a long time while they use me for a fuggin guinea pig..
I'll try and get back here with an update tomoro evenin, if I'm able..

I hope you get doctors that can speak english well enough for them to understand you and you understand them.
I print out my questions and other stuff and give to them, they seem to read english better than understand it spoken.

ALL went VERY well today.. Looks like my new doc is gonna be a good one and even speaks "Texan" to boot !!
Took 39 minutes from the time I went in the front door till I came out.. Not bad at all..
Updated my records and got my current vitals taken and then saw the Doc and she gave me 2 new meds and scheduled me for a new gall bladder scan and an appointment for the Dental Clinic and then I made a trip to the lab to have a full-scale blood work-up done..
Went down the street a few blocks and saved 20 cents-a-gallon on gas before headin out of town toward home.. Had some good rains here early this mornin but it moved on out before we left and only had a few sprinkles on the windshield on our drive..
I'm havin my meds mailed to me this time.. Thats what took so much time when I went to Shreveport last year.. I should have em in a few days..
I'm real impressed with the VA Clinic and the Docs too.. The receptionist behind the counter where you check-in sat there like a sack of wet shit and didnt even speak, but I really didnt need the fat fugger to speak to me anyway.. I stuck my card and appointment papers in the holder on the counter and gave him a shitty look and sat down and watch Disorderly Conduct on TV..
I had the same nurse as last time and she was just as nice this time when she took my vitals and updated my history .. She even complimented me on smokin less now and gettin my blood pressure down to near-proper levels..
My Lab Nurse is a short "portly" black lady that me and her always get to talkin bout our "soul food" .. She aint no "Harpoon Mary" either.. She sticks you and you barely can feel it and it never bruises ..
There is an El Chico just down the street a few blocks and one of these times I'm gonna have enuff money with me to stop there and pig out on some of their good food and margarita or 3.. This place is one of the old ones that was first opened and still has some of the original family runnin it.. You dont get any Taco Bell food at this place !! Its the REAL DEAL ..
I did notice one thang at the VA Clinic.. They were sure tryin to push those PTSD drugs and treatment on me.. I still have some of those "sweaty" dreams but not often so I had em give me some sleepin pills and that seemed to make em happy.. It aint the same ones I took before but I couldnt remember the name, so I'll try these new ones and if I dont like em I'll get em changed when I go back in 6 months.. When I get these new ones I'll check em out good and make sure they aint some of those that you can get hooked on or causes more problems than they cure..
I'm gonna have to rate my VA Clinic as EXCELLENT.. I wont have a problem recommendin em to anybody.. I just wish they were all this good we didnt have to hear of all the horror stories from other Vets..
In case ya'll are wonderin, I sat under the huge portrait of G.W. in the waitin room !! snicker snicker
WB, glad you had a good trip. You had me wondering what was up and gave me a worry there. Hope your lab comes back all good.
I'm a wishing that I would get a new doc, as the one I've had the last two times really has a language problem.
Plus she screwed up my original apt. to see a skin Doctor. Seems she didn't enter it right in the computer according to her nurse. So I had to call and find out why I hadn't recieved an apt, and that's when the nurse found out and had the doc fix her screwup.
I finally got to see the skin doc, just a month late.
Anyway, enought about that. Hope the extra rain you got hasn't messed up your garden. That extra rain we got, (any rain we get is extra) made mine really perk up. I've been eating tomatoes for awhile and I have enough green onions that I'm giving them away every week.
Talking about sleep aids, I tried different "sleeping pills" and none of them agreed with me. Finally a VA doc got me on Trazodone HCL. I used to take 100MG each night, but now cut them in half. This drug was not designed for a sleep aid, but as a anti-depressant years ago. Docs found out that if you take about a quarter dose (100mg) a day they work great at giving you a good nights sleep without drugging you and making you feel like crap.
Talking about eating out. I had been noticing them fixing up an ol' gas station on the route I take to pick up Sarah from Day Care. It turned out they made it into a mom and pop type Mexican food place and Sarah and I stopped there and had some tacos and split a burrito. It was the best I've had in awhile and the service was great. But here is the reason we will be going back: The prices were just a tad more than the typical fast food joint.

Trazodne is what I was takin before and I really liked it.. They had me takin Prozac with it too but I got off that shit and just took the Trazodone..
I took it for about a year and missed my next appointment because of bad weather and never rescheduled again..
I take Tylynol PM or Benedryl now if its gets bad but not often.. I mostly have a coupla glasses of my homebrew and a ceegar and it calms me and eases me to where I sleep good..
When I was havin the really bad times there was NOTHIN that worked like Trazodone did tho.. I never did have any problems with NOT takin it either which is what I really liked about it too..
This new med has a name that starts with "Hydro or Hydra" and I aint ever heard of it before.. If I was havin the problems I was havin befroe I might worry about it and get it changed back real soon but its just a "sometimes" thang now and I magine I can hold out for another 5 months if this new one dont suit me.. I'll just stick it in my SHTF Kit and it may come in handy some day..
But I forgot to try and get some more Sulfa drugs this time.. They sure come in handy when you are drinkin unsure water and eattin wild game.. If nothin else it keeps the bugs away from you when you are out in the outdoors !!
It would probably have meant that I would have had to have a colonoscopy and exam for my Crohn's Disease but as long as they didnt try to use me for a guinea pig for their trial meds it would have been worth it..
We have a new Mescan Food place openin here too.. Its called "La Chica" and they have a big round mamasita that cooks and a bunch of young senoritas waitin tables.. Its Original Tex Mex and supposed to be pretty good.. I may have to give it a try soon.. At least L@@K the place over.. Know what I mean, Vern ?? snicker snicker
