Who Will Fill The Shoes ??

I Was An Admirer Too

I do have a touch of culture in me, I just dont let it out much.. Luciano Pavarotti made it hard for me to keep it on the inside tho and I would have to let it out..

I never saw him in person and only listened to him on records and radio and I do have one CD that he and Celine Dion do a duet on.. I've never heard him on one of those Super-Duper sound systems, but his performances didnt require it.. The PASSION and EMOTION carried well thru just about any means of reproduction..

When he sang he had my undivided attention..

He was a very gifted Artiste and shared his gift.. But the gift is now silent and the voice stilled and another Magnanimous Icon has gone away from us..

Heah, Divo.. Be sure to tell Bob Wills and Stevie Ray Vaughn that Wild Bill says "HI" and that I miss em, just as I'm gonna miss you..

Nice blog entry, WB. I don't care for opera but I sure did admire Mr. Pavarotti's voice and passion. When I read he was in serious condition yesterday, figured it was a matter of hours. I sure hate hearing the diagnosis of pacreatic cancer.

I'd like to hear a duo with Pavarotti and Stevie Ray Vaughn. Can you imagine them getting the toes tapping up there?!

He also worked with Eric Clapton and Sting and many more..

He appeared and sang on the Late Nite Shows too and promoted Classical Music where he could..

I'm no big fan of Opera or Classical, but there are several Shinin Stars that stick out and I have recordins of..

One is a Spanish singer that has a definite Flair and the other a black lady that sings some wonderful Christian and Christmas songs..

They all deserve credit in their own right, but Pavarotti was The Golden Boy !!

We have lost someone that sang to our very souls.. His family has lost part of their soul.. May their burden of loss that he is no more be lightened by the thoughts that he WAS .. "Better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved at all" !!

isn't it funny. Life gets soooo busy. Enjoyed his music and voice but never really had the time to devote to it, he often was on the educational channel up here and I would listen for a few minutes and then click away....have to get a CD or something later I always thought.

One of the nurses comin on to the A.M. shift this morning mentioned his death........."Oh noooooooo!" was my thought. I was diminished. I knew the "collective WE" had lost something wonderful. It is how we always feel after we lose the GREAT ONES.

Never had much of a respect or attention for Sinatra either. And after he died I felt the same way. Went out and bought a coupla CD's and now enjoy him immensely.

Isn't it odd. One never knows what one has until it is gone.

Also odd tht even tho they are gone forever to us and the voice is stilled.....they sing on for us.

Through the pure "magic" of technology.

Now, I must go out and get some Pavarotti CD's.

Didn't know he had pancreatic cancer.....it is one of the most painful deaths and very quick from onset.

No more pain Mr. P.

Thanx for bringing a bit of Heaven to Earth.

Mama Bear, I wondered how you were. Thank you for the last sentence of your post - absolutely perfect and fitting.

WB, did you ever hear Mahalia Jackson? She died in the 60's. I was only a young teenager but I absolutely loved her voice.

Damn, I just had a terrible thought. Who do we have today that we would mourn as we do Pavarotti? I sure can't think of anyone!!

yes, he was a wonderful voice, but he wasn't the end all - there's andrea bocelli - who he sang with on occasion; there is il divo; the three mo' tenors.

mario lanza was a favorite of mine as a child.

he was also a cheater, whose escapades led to his leaving his wife of 39 years.

i sure hope i never have to give a eulogy...

sorry to rain on this parade.
