ONE New Battery

I've been tryin to get out to the farm for the past 2 days and aint got there yet.. Each day I get on my scooter and go out to try and get all my shit gathered and loaded on the trailer and then I have to recharge my scooter batteries before goin anywhere.. By the time I get the batteries recharged its too late to go to the farm then..

I broke down and went down the street to the Parts House and bought a new AMERICAN battery.. Aint no Mexico on this baby nowhere !! Piss on Wal-Mart and there Mescan and China sellin asses !!

And I got one of those SUPER-DUPER batteries too.. Its a MARINE DEEP CYCLE and will have a lot more ROAD TIME to it between charges.. It cost about $40 bucks more than the battery I usually get, but hey, its AMERICAN !! Its about twice as big as the usual battery and takes twice as long to charge, and when I got this one home it wadnt already charged, so I'm gonna have to charge overnite and I'll be rip-tearin-ready to go to the farm bright and early(and cool) in the mornin..

I still need 1 more of these kinda batteries, but I'm gonna wait and see how my scooter handles the extra weight from this bigger battery.. The ground is still pretty soggy from all the rain and the scooter cuts some good ruts with my big ass on it and the extra weight may just be too much to get around with.. I used to have big and wide TURF tires on it till they wore out and to replace they cost $80 bucks a piece.. Shit, my tight-wad ass replaced em with the $30 bucks a piece regular street tires !! But this is Texas and before long the ground will be dry and baked as hard as a brick batt again..

But the weather is supposed to be dry again tomoro then we will be back to possible thunderstorms again for a few days, but at least it will be cool again.. Gonna be in the 80's and have a nice breeze.. Caint beat that with a stick !! Specially in the middle of July in Texas..

So. if I'm too tired to get on here and do much "jawin" for a day or two, now you will know the reason..

WB, have you ever thought about getting one of those electric golf carts that has been altered for use as a hunting vehicle? They run quite, have tires that will take you anywhere and won't hardly get stuck. A guy in my hunting club had one and his would go anywhere a regular four wheeler would go. They are bigger than the scooter that you're using, but they could be hauled on a trailer and give you more freedom to move around just about anywhere.

Y'll have a good day,

While we'll miss you, glad to hear you'll finally get out to the farm. Even better to finally hear an American made product is worth the money!!!!

I do like Almtnman's idea, though. Hope you'll get a windfall one day and can purchase one.

I think that WB would get a lot of use out of one of the electric golf carts that had been fixed up for off road duty. He could take his rifle on there with him and what else he wanted to carry, like his garden tools, etc. Then when one of those wild hogs started getting into the garden on the back forty, he'd be equipped to handle it.

The GM Dealership across the street from me had a coupla those for sale earlier this year, but they are just too big for my purposes.. I have my ridin mower to get around to the places that are too far or to ruff terrain for my scooter, plus the mower has a hitch to pull my trailer..

My scooter is the perfect thang for me but the sucker is gettin old and tired.. I caint get parts for it anymore so I have to machine my own out in the shop and get substitutes at the Parts House..

The "brain" on it fried and left me without a way to control the speed on it, so I had to route and connect a set of solenoids to run it on either 12V or 24V and have seperate buttons for each on the handle bars.. I tried every where to find a Heavy Duty reostat but there aint any such animal around here.. When the batteries are at Full Charge it makes a lurch when you take off and it will RARE UP if you hit the button for the 24V from a dead stop..

Durin Down Time this winter I plan on doin some modifications and get it more practical for use at the farm..

I plan on puttin an extension in mid-frame to allow for taller tires and raise it off the ground some more but I caint go much wider with the tires or I caint get it in and out of the house..

But at some point I'd like to get me an old Go-Kart and do a REFAB on it to use at the farm.. Out there the exhaust fumes from a 5 HP gas motor wouldnt be a prolem..

I really wish I had another Cushman Scooter like I had many years ago !!

If I did get that WINDFALL, I'd get me another '71 Chevy Blazer like I used to have before an old girlfriend got revenge by stealin it and havin it stripped for parts.. It was one of those that just had the windshield that stuck up from the body and a roll bar behind the front seat and a narrow seat that set up high between the wheel wells in the back..

I used to back off into the pool down at the woods and go fishin right out of the back seat and I could park down on a deer trail and sit in the back seat and watch 360 degrees and never have to get out and walk thru the wet frosty cold grass to go huntin..

I might be able to search and find a better huntin buggy, but I dont know what it would be or where I'd get it..
