Gun Owners Under Attack Again
Alabama Mountain Man, listed in my blogroll, has a post that you should read if you are a gun owner or 2nd Amendment believer..
You can catch it HERE..
Seems as tho the NRA is gonna sign-off on this POS !!
Have you ever seen a doctor that didnt have solid ethics ?? Ever seen an anti-gun doctor before ??
This Law that is bein talked about is gonna make it as easy for the "gun grabbers" to find em a doctor to back em up in takin somebody's guns away, as it is for the ACLU to find em a liberal judge to take away a Cross or Ten Commandments from a school or courthouse !!
I know who this Law is SUPPOSED to be used FOR, but I also know damn-well who it will eventually be used AGAINST !!
So if you have any plans to keep your guns handy for when the Dirtbags try to take over, you better find somebody, anybody, to raise some hell at about this !!
Thanks, Mountain Man, for keepin us up on this..

i caught your comment over at steve's and from your profile - i'll assume you must be related to my husband!
an old timer once told me:
"when you get a gun, file the numbers off and report it stolen."
he was emphatic that one day, this information would come in handy - that was ten years ago. haven't tried it yet.
Nanc, you gotta be careful bout accusin folks of be kin to me.. Some of em dont take too kindly to it !!
Glad you stopped by and left a comment with me.. Hope to see you round here often..
Don't know if I would want to file the numbers off one, but one good reminder about guns is; if you see any for sale that you don't have to fill out paperwork, grab it up quick. Here in my state it's OK to buy a gun from an individual that wants to sell you one and there's no paperwork. Any guns that you own that never had any paperwork filled out, treasure them as they may be the only ones you will own later on.
almtnman is right, in fact that is how I got three of my huh....bbguns.
My oldest, and most prize possession was obtained in another state so long ago that the record has been lost or whatever. In fact, I'm not even sure the paperwork was even done, or sent in.
Small town pawn shops sometimes don't keep their records straight, if you know what I mean.
I got it on my ride through the SW. Decided I needed some company and missed the one I had been carrying for the previous three years. (no it wasn't the same thing, but even more effective at close range)
Anybody asks locally that I don't know, I would like to own one but can't afford it.
When we go to the shooting range, we always keep an eye out for people we don't know, and say little to those "types" that might show up once in a while.
In fact if you ask most guys out there about what they are shooting, they will tell you that "they just borrowed it" and don't know anything.
I wrote my two Senators about these last two bills and I have their assurance that they will fight any gun law, now or in the future that is against the Constitution or common sense.
Take care..

Ha!...
My Sweet Sarah came in from the living room and said: "What you writing about now?"
I said: "Oh, just guns and stuff."
She said: "You better be careful, people don't like guns."
Out of the mouths....

Hi nanc...
I caught your "8 things post" and was right there with you until the last few.
I might consider "entertaining" my best buds and their wifes and kids (those that are still married, and their girlfriends if they are not) but big crowds scare me...Those that hang with me or that I hang with, are not just someone I know, but someone I respect and would trust my life with.
And that ain't many.
Anyway, I like your priorities.
WB, hope you don't mind this comment.
Papa Ray
Dont mind at all, Papa Ray.. Comment bout anythang, at any time you want to here..
Funniest thang happened to me today.. I saw Nanc's comment and I got to thankin back bout WHICH Steve I had commented at.. I had been to about 3 and 2 of em were flamin liberals and I backtracked and found the comment that Nanc was talkin bout and it did happen to be the NOT-liberal one..
Sure am glad it wadnt the "Bush=Hitler" Steve !!
I've had to go get a few of my guns back from the PO-leece after some problems I had.. They know some of what guns I have, but not all of em..
But I never have had to fill out paperwork on any of em I've got, but the PO-leece recorded the numbers off a few of em..
Most of em I have were either give to me or I traded for em.. But I dont sell my guns and I rarely buy or trade for one..
Livin where I do and the neighbors I've got, I feel better knowin that THEY know I've got guns !! Whats better is knowin that THEY know I'll use it if I have to too..
I've been known to get hot and weak and just come in the house and leave my shop WIDE OPEN, ALL NIGHT, and nobody messes with anythang, other than maybe somebody that knows me stoppin and lockin the doors for me..
They dont mind burglin and vandalizin my neighbors, but they dont touch nothin on this side of the street.. "THAT ONE-LEGGED MANS CRAZY AND GOTS GUNS" !!
I can live with that !!
"THAT ONE-LEGGED MANS CRAZY AND GOTS GUNS" !!
Jeez, that got me to laughing so hard Sarah yelled at me to save whatever I was laughing at until she finished supper.
I only am on speaking terms with about three of my close neighbors, but they all know I keep "protection".
The others will just have to find out the hard way.
Papa Ray
Wild Bill, you might want to post this good news on your blog.
It looks like our comments to OSHA have stirred things up as they were overloaded with comments about this new regulation. Here’s some good news to show what your comments can do with government officials. This is a long comment, but worth the read....

Labor Department Announces It Will Revise Overreaching OSHA Explosives Rule
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Monday, July 16, 2007
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) announced it will significantly revise a recent proposal for new “explosives safety” regulations that caused serious concern among gun owners. OSHA had originally set out to update workplace safety regulations, but the proposed rules included restrictions that very few gun shops, sporting goods stores, shippers, or ammunition dealers could comply with.
Gun owners had filed a blizzard of negative comments urged by the NRA, and just a week ago, OSHA had already issued one extension for its public comment period at the request of the National Shooting Sports Foundation. After continued publicity through NRA alerts and the outdoor media, and after dozens of Members of Congress expressed concern about its impact, OSHA has wisely decided to go back to the drawing board.
Working with the NRA, Congressman Denny Rehberg (R-MT) planned to offer a floor amendment to the Labor-HHS appropriations bill this Wednesday when the House considers this legislation. His amendment would have prohibited federal funds from being used to enforce this OSHA regulation.
Such an amendment is no longer necessary since Kristine A. Iverson, the Labor Department’s Assistant Secretary for Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs, sent Rep. Rehberg a letter, dated July 16, stating that it “was never the intention of OSHA to block the sale, transportation, or storage of small arms ammunition, and OSHA is taking prompt action to revise” this proposed rule to clarify the purpose of the regulation.
Also, working with the NRA, Congressman Doug Lamborn (R-CO) gathered signatures from 25 House colleagues for a letter, dated July 11, expressing concerns about this proposed OSHA rule. The letter calling the proposal “an undue burden on a single industry where facts do not support the need outlined by this proposed rule” and “not feasible, making it realistically impossible for companies to comply with its tenets.”
The OSHA proposal would have defined “explosives” to include “black powder, … small arms ammunition, small arms ammunition primers, [and] smokeless propellant,” and treated these items the same as the most volatile high explosives.
Under the proposed rule, a workplace that contained even a handful of small arms cartridges, for any reason, would have been considered a “facility containing explosives” and therefore subject to many impractical restrictions. For example, no one could carry “firearms, ammunition, or similar articles in facilities containing explosives … except as required for work duties.” Obviously, this rule would make it impossible to operate any kind of gun store, firing range, or gunsmith shop.
The public comment website for the proposed rule is no longer accessible. The Labor Department will publish a notice in the July 17 Federal Register announcing that a new rule proposal will soon be drafted for public comment. Needless to say, the NRA monitors proposed federal regulations to head off this kind of overreach, and will be alert for OSHA’s next draft.
Mountain Man, I need to be straightened out here a little bit..
I thought it was the GOA that was against this and that the NRA had signed-off on it.. One of my friends in my Yahoo Group has been postin stuff too and I've seen yours posted, so now I'm gettin kinda cornfused !!
Wild Bill, the one I'm talking about it the new regulation that OSHA wanted to sneak in on us. If it had passed, it would be impossible to buy ammo anywhere as the regulation was so restrictive that no-one would be able to transport it, store it at a store or anything. The NRA and GOA were against this one. It appears that so many people sent in comments and a bunch of Senators jumped on the bandwagon that OSHA had to back off that one.
