Gonna Need A Nap

Smells Like Mama's Kitchen

I smoked a beef Rump Roast this mornin and cut it up and have had a pot of stew cookin on low since bout noon.. Damn stuff is bout to starve us to death !!

Its got a big jar of roasted onion and garlic, corn, Rotel Tamaters, diced tamaters, taters and celery, broccoli and cauliflower, and a bunch of seasonins, includin some Tony's..

It was rainy, gray, and gloomy here yesterday and we were scratchin for covers durin the cool nite last nite and a pot of stick-to-your-ribs stew seemed like the best medicine a person could ask for today..

Just about another hour and it will be time to dish up a big bowl to cool.. Ought to be just about enuff time to stir up a skillet of cornbread..

If I just had a campfire to sit around while I ate it I dont thank I could ask for anythang better..

Dang Wild Bill, you keep talkin like that and I'm gonna have to move to Texas, so I could stroll over there for supper. A big pone of cornbread to go with them vittles would sure stick to the ribs.

Problem is, Mountain Man, you caint just come eat, cause this stuff puts your lights out !!

I got me a medium sized bowl so it would cool quicker and as soon as I got it wolfed down I got another and by the time the second got cool enuff to eat my eyes were already startin to droop and it aint even 7PM yet.. I just finished the last bowl and looks like its gonna be lights-out early for me tonite..

It musta worked on the Kid too cause she done come and gimme nite-nite sugars..

This sure was a good batch too.. The second day is the one that tells the tale tho after it sets overnite..

Its a 10-quart pot I fix it in and I have it to the rim, and then after we eat out of it a coupla times I add a few more cans of veggies and take up a coupla butter bowls and freeze it for later.. Even as good as it is and as much as we like it, after a coupla days its time for somethin different..

But I bet I got a bowl just your size and when you get ready I'll put your name on it !!

Sounds great, WB. I could do with some of that right now.

And it's always better the next day!!

I love the smell of last nights beef stew in the kitchen early in the next morning

I'm jealous, WB. It's cold and rainy here and a bowl of stew would sure help right now. Especially when I get back from the bastion of liberal land, Berkeley!

I need some comfort food, darn it!

What a sweet term, "nite-nite sugars"! You are so good to your special little Erin.

wild bill - as you may or may not know - i like to match up different blogs and feel yours may be a good match for hammer's - he also likes to cook, use bad language and is just a general good guy all around - i think you'd like him, if you don't already - skim through his recipes - although vegetarian, very good.

Well in that case if I happened to make it, you might need a spare cot or a blanket on the floor. That's a little too far for me to drive though, so you'll just have to take care of the leftovers. :)

DAMN, Cheryl.. Berkeley ?? You dont need stew !! You need a stiff drank after that.. Maybe several..

Me and the Kid have a ritual that we go thru bought every nite.. Sometimes, on her better days, she comes and shows me her PRETTY PRINCESS GOWN and gives me a hug and kiss and goes and snuggles under the covers and says:

Kid: nite nite, Pop

Me: nite nite, Sugar

Me: sweet dreams

Kid: sweet dreams

Me: I see you in the mornin

Kid: see you in the mornin

Me: we have coffee together ?

Kid: YEAH !!

Me: I love you

Kid: Love you too

Sometimes we go thru this 2 or 3 times before the Mrs. says SHUT UP AND GO TO SLEEP !! I thank the Kid does it just to aggravate the Mrs. ..
