Sun And Rain

Took a ride today to the Indian Smoke Shop in Oklahoma and bought some $12 per carton cigs and had a good trip and ended it by goin to the garden and pickin a sack of greens and a sack of green onions..

With the rain and sun since I've been down, the grass has exploded upwards !! I couldnt believe how much its grown.. So, looks like I'm gonna be doin the "farm thang" again startin tomoro.. I've felt really good today and havent had any bad spells and I thank the fresh air and time away from home will do me good, as long as I dont over-do it..

I've got a little maintenence to do on the mower in the mornin but after that I plan to load it up and go to the farm..

The Mrs. says that she plans to do some plant shoppin for me while I'm busy out there.. Its time to get the peppers and okra and squash in the ground now and I've got some spice seeds that need to have a bed made for too.. No tellin what kind of seeds and plants she will show up with and want me to plant em too..

We have rain in the forecast for every day this week, so I figger I'm also gonna have plenty of down time to sit and watch it rain or get dry enuff to get around again.. But I enjoy sittin and listenin to the rain on the tin roof and smell the fresh scent of rain and wet grass.. I enjoy just about any time I get to spend at the farm tho, and if I get to sit a while I'll get to let it sink it a little better..

Well, its time to go get my "nest" made in my bed and see which radio station is gonna be best to pick-up The Drudge Report tonite..

4 AM and I woke to the sound of thunder so I dont thank my schedule for today will even survive the sunrise !!

Now the forecast is callin for STORMS every day this week.. But I can handle it.. Just gives me more shop-time to piddle and get some stuff done that I was puttin off till I got the garden more complete, but if its gonna rain, then I aint gonna complain cause that also means that I'll have that musch less water to have to pull up out of the well for the garden..

Come to thank of it, I may just go ahead and make me a pot of coffee now and then just have me a nap later today to make up for the lost sleep..

But then again, caint ever tell what the hell I'm gonna do..

Hey WB. Well, we are getting the dickens hammered out of us out here in West Texas. Flood watch, small hail and thunder that is keeping Sarah's Lab puppy in our laps. (and she is way too big for that at 40 lbs.)

Don't forget to tell your sweet lady to get those okra that I recommended in an earlier comment. They are the thing, believe me.

Our maters and peppers are growing like weeds, course I used a little Peters on them and we have had good rains to boot.

My Sweet Sarah was sick earlier this week and is better now, must have been something she picked up at school. But I made a mistake in shopping and got some laundry soap that had some kind of additive for smell and it broke her out. Can't find any of our brand without that crap. So went back to Tide. Which don't clean as well as Arm and Hammer, but she isn't alergic to it.

She looked like a patch work quilt after school today, and I been rubbing her down with Witch Hazel and other anti-itch stuff.

She is asleep now, I put gloves on her so she won't scratch herself so bad. I'll rub her down again about 11 and then about 3 am. with more meds. I also gave her a couple of teasp. of Benydryl, a couple of times since I picked her up at school.

Lifes a lot of fun, but sick kids ain't so much.

Take care and take care of those you love.

Our Kid is the same way, Papa Ray, and some of that stuff even chaps my tuff ol hide too.. Nothin I have found beats a good ol hot Epsom Salt bath soak tho.. Keeps on keepin the itch away long after you get out of the bath and will usually last all nite to let the little ones get some rest.. Aint nothin better for poison ivy or oak either !!

Bout the time I went out and dropped the ramp on the trailer to load it this afternoon, the sky turned black and started sprinklin.. So I blew off the garden today and within 30 minutes the sun was back out and didnt even get enuff sprinkles to spot the windshield on the car.. There is always tomoro, but tonite we got tornado warnins in the county 2nd to the west os us and it is kinda headed our way.. Gonna keep an eye on it for a little while..

I rolled around on the concrete in the shop workin on the mower this mornin and collected me several sore spots.. I had a good long hot soak in the tub but still have the sore spots..

The Mrs. went to 2 places here this mornin and neither had ANY okra seed.. She got some collard seed and some leaf lettuce seed tho..

My mater plants already have maters almost hardball size !! And covered with blooms.. Some of my onions are already up to silver dollar size too..

I hope Sweet Sarah gets back to normal soon.. Spring is too nice a part of the year out there to have to be stuck inside sick or not able to get out and play..

Thanks for reminding me about Epson Salts. I knew that, but my ol' mind let it fall out with other info I should still remember.

It rained here all night and most of the day. The sun is trying to peek out now, but a look at the local radar shows storms still wandering around out here. I'm getting ready to go get Sweet Sarah. Gonna leave early, so as to take a few short cuts to miss the low spots.

There are raging rivers of water flowing through some streets and culverts in town. But her school is out on the edge of town in a fairly high place.

There aint much difference in elevation out here. I remember coming back when I was gone to Nam, and the first thing that struck me was how flat everything was.

I fixed another pot of pinto beans and hamhock and a big pan of cornbread. Sarah loves it. I also got some fresh fruit yesterday and will cut them up and make her a nice fruit salad.

Take care of yourselves.

I'm fixin a big pot of sketti for us tonite.. I chopped up a bunch of those fresh-from-the-garden onions in it and gonna have some garlic toast made from my homemade bread with it..

I thought some sketti would be a good reason for me to end my "dry spell" and have a coldbeer or three !! The Mrs. drank TOO much wine the last time we got some, and she aint wanted any more since.. I still like me some good red wine with my sketti but aint had none in a long time.. Since the Fwench people seem to have returned to their senses and elected a decent Prez, I may just have to celebrate soon and have me a bottle of Franch wine sometime.. BONESWAR !!

We been gettin rain and thunder for the past several hours here.. I thought it was gonna move on off but its still hangin on.. The bad stuff went south and east of us tho, so it all bad..

A figger a full belly of sketti and a coupla coldbeers and I'll be ready to "rest my eyes" a while and listen to the pitter-patter..
