Britain free from WWII payments

LONDON -- More than six decades after the fact, Britain has finally paid back the billions of dollars it had borrowed from the United States and Canada to help pay for rebuilding the country after World War II.
At the click of a few computer keys in London on the last business day of 2006, $83.25 million was sent electronically winging to Washington and $22.7 million to Ottawa, to free Britain from annual installments it occasionally has struggled to pay.

comment: There is more at the link and its somethin you can file away for future reference..

The U.S. gives away untold Billions of Dollars that we never see any return on.. I just wonder how huch we gave Turkey before they slammed the door in our face when we wanted to use their ports in the invasion of Iraq ?? Its probably better that I dont know the amount that has been pumped into that wasteland known as The Palestenian Territories, but guess what, G.W. wants to send em some more !!

Its WAY THE HELL past time to shut off those dollars pourin out of our coffers to every Tin-Pan that has his fuggin hat held out !! There is a list as long as here-to-Dallas for stuff that this country is in dire need of and they tell us there aint the money for.. If we took Condi Rice's checkbook away from here for a few months, then no tellin what we would be able to afford that might actually do us some good..

We send a shit-load of money to Syria every year so that they will be nice to Israel.. Syria most likely uses the money to fund terrorism against the U.S. .. So how bout we just send the money to Israel or better yet, send that much in weapons to Israel to MAKE Syria be nice to em ??

I saw a list last year that had who and how-much we gave away to other countries in a 2-month time.. This was ABOVE-THE-BOARD type payments and didnt include the under the table bucks that the CIA and others throw around.. First I got dizzy from all the zeroes, and then I got sick at my stomach.. This list came at about the same time that The Pentagon was sayin that their military equipment was gettin worn out and they needed more money to fix it.. The Coast Guard was havin to cut orders for new equipment too..

We aint gettin a fair enuff return on our investments that we make in these countries that never seem to appreciate our efforts to help em.. Cut that damn money off and while we are at it, how bout we take the money we send the U.N. every year and have one helluva July 4th party this year ??

The Brits deserve a BIG pat on the back for what they have done.. Bein the first in this category is definitely an accomplishment that leaves them standin alone at the TOP !!

Kim du Toit, in my blogroll, also has somethin to say about it..

Damn, I'm so happy you're writing about what you feel!! I've never understood why we keep handing out money to other nations when our national debt is in the trillions, our money is really just paper, and we do have people at home who could use some help - like our military!! Talk about throwing good after bad! Doesn't surprise me about England. They've been a standup country and the best ally to us.

Kim is a REAL TROOPER !! He has been thru several transformations at his blog to meet PC demands of employers to keep food on his table.. He can only be silenced for so long tho, and always comes back with a vengence..

But in the process, a lot of of his excellent works have gone the way of the Do-Do Bird, and all we get to see are pics or re-writes or copies.. Luckily, I have saved several great pieces he has written over the years..

He is a native of South Africa and, like me, a survivor of the '70s and that era's military enlistment..

Kim is the "poster boy" of a DESIRED immigrant to this country.. He lives in the Dallas area and we often pass by his neighborhood on our way to Childrens Hospital to get the Kid checked out.. Time and other restrictions have not been favorable for us to visit him, but its definitely on my list..

Remember to keep an eye on Kim, cause he dont go very long at a time without writin somethin good..

Hey, yep, Kim is a keeper..ha, Sarah would say that is cool.

Your cool too, WB, you need to post more over at RR, I can't seem to remember to come over here.

Not your fault, I'm just getting too old to remember shit. I have notes all over my computer, kitchen, car and in my pockets. I don't think I'm getting that alsimers (sp) but just getting that ol' aged malady (CRS)...HeeHee.

I notice you left a complete URL instead of one of them fancy "links". I don't know how to do that myself, so I use this page, so I just stick in the address and such and it does it for me. Its also useful for other stuff such as images,
check it out.

Take it easy.

Papa Ray, when I have links like that, you can also roll-over the Title of the Post and if it "highlights" then there is also a link there.. I just try to keep it simple and I know that many times folks save links to view later when they have more time..

I know that it aint how MOST folks do it, but I have found it has some advantages over the "transfer" links and if there is anythang about me, it aint FANCY !!

And by postin the Full Link, it lets you see in advance where you are goin to and make a decision of the trust of the source and whether you may have already been to the site for the story and is not a different source than you have already seen..

I talked to RT about the postin over at RR a while back and what he told me about it left me feelin that the Mood there and MY mood where just different enuff that I could easily cause a conflict and I thank too much of those folks there to start any more trouble with em.. But I'm gettin the feelin that the mood is gonna be changin a little more in my direction soon, and if and when that happens you will be seein me there again..

But have you noticed how many sites and commenters are bein the Go-Along, To-Get-Along kind lately ?? I have, and its really startin to get on my damn nerves !!

My Buddy Billy came over and brought a Bottle with him last nite and we got into some heated and often hostile conversations about what he has been led to believe about Iraq and the Political Atmosphere in the U.S. lately.. Its been a while since the last time we had a "round-table" on politics and the War, and besides the fact he has been gettin his info from the MSM.. Billy can be a hard-headed old fart and get stuff in his head that are just WRONG, and sometimes it takes me days to get him brought up to date and have him take the info I pass on to him and get it thought out.. I have NO-Doubt that we will have another debate soon and that he will now have a new position to share..

I thank that the hardest time I'm gonna have with Billy is that the Sec Def Rumsfeld wadnt a "free-lance" boss, and that what Rummy was doin was what G.W. was tellin him he wanted done..

I'm tryin to convince Billy that what Rummy did was what Colin and Condi and Rove and several others had got G.W. to try and do and that Rummy didnt like it but instead of defy The President, did what he was tasked to do.. I guess its plain now that I have a high regard for Rumsfeld and that I thank he is less responsible for the direction of events in Iraq than most thank.. I also dont thank that Rummy gets credit for the progress(or lack of defeats) that have happened in the last 2 years in Iraq..

I also happen to thank that what is gonna be "The New Direction" in Iraq, is what Rumsfeld was wantin a long time ago and just couldnt convince G.W. over the others wishes.. I dont thank Rumsfeld was comfortable with the "Lead" that had been gained in Iraq and still wanted to lean on the Iraqis, but the "hearts and minds" bunch talked G.W. into doin what they wanted instead, and so, now we are back to tryin to WIN THE WAR again !! That led to Rumsfeld not bein around to tell em "see, I told you so" anymore !!

I've tryin to look back and get an idea of events that were takinj place in the last coupla years and put faces and reactions to what was happenin, and I have come to believe that Cheney and Runsfeld were of ONE MIND on what needed to be done, and that they aint been happy.. Rummy is gone now and I suspect Cheney is takin a LONG HARD LOOK at the door too..

We need to be keepin a close eye on who would be the best prospect for the NEW VP in the near future.. I have a feelin that Rove is gonna be doin his magic soon to get the line-up started on the '08 elections.. Anybody want to make any predictions ?? Huh ?? Huh ??

Wild Bill, I don't know what Rove will do or even if he can do anything anymore. The Repubs are so infected, disorganised and out of touch with what the average American thinks or wants, I don't know what is going to happen.

There are no great choices for the Repubs in my opinion, cept maybe that Senator that got booted, Santorum, I posted some of his speeches over at RR. I like what he says, but don't know much else about him.

I like this guy, but he says that he ain't running in 08 for nothing. Yea, I know he might have other plans or just be stonewalling.

I don't like most of the others or lets just say there are too many things I don't like about some of them. McCain is a good guy, but I don't want him for a President.

I thought Rice might be a good pick at state but, turns out, at least in MHO, not so good. I think she has been drinking too much peace coolaid, I don't want her for President either.

I saw Cheney on something a few months back and either he had bad makeup or was looking none too good. I wish he could get a new heart or something so he could run for something or at least be around long enough to influence things.

Bush is a good man, but I think he just depends on others too much for everything. He needs to just get the facts and quit getting opinions about what to do, or get new advisors and cabinet.

Or maybe I'm wrong and he is just in over his head.

I'm not going to butt in your business or RTs, but as far as conflicts, disagreements or just plain arguments, I think thats good for everbody, not bad.

I know most don't agree with me or think I'm just a stupid ol man, but hey, I'm a big boy and my mama didn't raise no fool, so I can take it, if somebody jumps on me.

Like bordergal, she got her feelings hurt by someting I posted or at least how I posted it, so I apoligised.

No big deal.

Anyway, on the links, I just use that crutch, because if you post full links on some comment sections, it messes up the page or it gets cut off.

Your reasoning is good on why to use the full address.

I hear you concerning your bud, Billy.

I drink coffee with my vet buds everyweek. We sometimes invite others to our table and draw them into discussions about the happenings in the world. We sometimes convince others that they have been fed a load of bullshit, sometimes, they just get mad and get up and leave.

We don't quit tho, we keep trying to inform people and change minds. both in our little city and on the net.

Buy more ammo.

Papa Ray, you probably got what I got....not alzheimer's.....

Sometimer's Disease.

It comes and goes. Not all the time, just sometimes.

But, I am happy with age, would not trade it for the folly of youth.

The body pains and aches I could do without.....but, it is a joy to know my own mind and it's long long history...I've earned the right to speak my truth. And the PC crowd can just go to H E double hockey sticks.
